casa abierta leftThe Lutheran Church of Costa Rica instigated the kindergarten Casa Abierta with the goal of facilitating the daily life of working families with insufficient economic resources, who moreover have difficulties finding a safe place to leave their children when they go to work.

Sunday, the 26th of March 2017 a very special activity took place in the community of “La Esperanza” in Chilamate. In a festive ceremony the community said goodbye to Geraldina Álvarez’, who had worked as minister in the area of Sarapiquí for 6 years.


We cordially invite you to participate in the cultural liturgical Wittenberg Fest-Week, through which we are getting to know the meaning of the Protestant Reform's legacy in the ecumenical community. We are preparing ourselves for the celebration of 500 years of reform in 2017.

This October 8, 2016 the Seventh Anniversary of the Open House Carpio was celebrated. For this special occasion the musical "The Puppeteer Rainbow" was presented, prepared with the support of Pastor Julio Melara and the community's youth group.

An inter-generational Mission Team from Kure Memorial Lutheran Church in Kure Beach, North Carolina spent a week learning from, serving with, and strengthening relationships with the day care communities of Casa Abierta in Alejuelita and La Carpio as well as the ILCO faith communities in Puriscal and Guatuso.
