The Lutheran Church of Costa Rica instigated the kindergarten Casa Abierta with the goal of facilitating the daily life of working families with insufficient economic resources, who moreover have difficulties finding a safe place to leave their children when they go to work.
Sunday, the 26th of March 2017 a very special activity took place in the community of “La Esperanza” in Chilamate. In a festive ceremony the community said goodbye to Geraldina Álvarez’, who had worked as minister in the area of Sarapiquí for 6 years.

This October 8, 2016 the Seventh Anniversary of the Open House Carpio was celebrated. For this special occasion the musical "The Puppeteer Rainbow" was presented, prepared with the support of Pastor Julio Melara and the community's youth group.
