The Costa Rican Lutheran Church is pleased to host every year, Brothers and Sisters of congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), who traveled to our country in order to share a Mission of Service with local Community Life and ILCO´s work on issues of social, environment and economic justice. Also to develop a Work Project and enjoy a Tour Day in some of the beautiful places in Costa Rica.
The first group for 2014 was SH2 Companies with members of the Congregation Lutheran Church of Elk River, Minnesota , who visited ILCO in order to walk alongside the people, sharing, learning and making new friends. The Work Project was held at the Community of Chilamate in Sarapiquí, building the new floor. For this year ILCO started the construction of a new kitchen room in Chilamate, with the goal of offering community members a safer and nicer place for food preparation.
The second group came from the Congregation of Grace Lutheran Boone, NC, who also visited the Community of Chilamate and contributed in building the new kitchen room and painting walls of the church. Many other activities were also done, specially with children such as crafts, painting and games, a space that was really appreciated by the children, who expressed joy and happiness.

These young people participated in different activities with brothers and sisters in different communities, an opportunity for a cultural immersion and mision awareness.
A very important aspect in these experiences is discovering the value of relationships with other people, especially populations facing discrimination and exclusion. A leader of the group remarked: "It was wonderful to feel included and be a part of something bigger than ourselves"
A delegation of youth and leaders from Camp Chrysalis in Texas visited ILCO to participate in a week-long program of recreational and learning activities in order to offer a different camp experience in partnership.

They also participated in activities with the children of the Day Care Casa Abierta, where they had the work project.
