Radio Program Iglesia y Sociedad.

english30The Costa Rican Lutheran Church (ILCO) began its first weekly Radio Program “Iglesia y Sociedad” (Church and Society), which took place on Thursday, September 3, 2009. This is an alternative space, which urges individuals and social organizations interested in defending the right to information to participate in its broadcasts.

ILCO considers these programs a valuable platform for motivating grassroots actions for social change. This Radio Program is not only for distribution of information, but also for opening new avenues for mass communication, which were previously closed for social organizations.

The existence of alternative radio spaces is essential for the healthy development of any social movement. The people do not realize that there are comprehensive alternatives to the problems of our society. For this reason the radio program serves an educational function.

By transmitting relevant information on national and international issues, we empower each citizen to take a stance on social and theological topics. Our goal is to realize an inclusive media outlet in which different social and religious beliefs converges into one popular form of communication.

“Iglesia y Sociedad” is now a fundamental part of the integral mission of communications at ICLO, which states, “Your voice, my voice, our voice, as an instrument of justice.” In this way, we welcome this informative space, which we hope to put at the disposal of any and all social organizations in the country that support the construction of a just and inclusive society.

Also, we would like to congratulate all of those groups who bravely face the challenge of social change every Monday to Friday by offering public information, analysis, and debates from 10am to 11am on Radio Actual 107.1 FM.
