“Mission Complete!”

Dear friends in Christ,

The year 2007 has been a very important phase in our church community, full of challenges, struggles, decisions, and even displeasures.

We have had to confront obstacles and take positions, such as in the fight against the Central American Free Trade Agreement, which proved that our community is at the service of the most poor and vulnerable – the legacy our Lord Jesus Christ left for us. At this moment, ILCO reaffirms its course, and no longer are the government, the citizenry, nor our sister churches indifferent to us.

Furthermore, we have moved forward in many areas, and our communities’ goals have been strengthened – thanks to working together with all of our brothers and sisters both in and outside of Costa Rica.

This has meant that the missions in which we collaborate internationally have “rediscovered” the life of the Gospel. We’ve been able to show that the work we do together, with strength and with love, is work that endures.

Today, we give thanks to God for the ability to have shared one more year with you. Your help and dedication to the work of ILCO continues to press onward and form an important part in the history of our country.

For the next year, we will continue in the struggle – standing up! – in favor of those who are excluded, upon whom our faith is based.

It’s for all of this that with much pleasure, I send you a warm hug for this Christmas. May your sharing with families, friends and neighbors be one of the dreams that you realize, and may the love of Jesus Christ watch over us always.

More than satisfied, but with great expectations for next year, we can say: “Mission Complete!” We ask God to continue walking together with us in this arduous work for justice.

Happy New Year!
