Sewing Workshops in the indigenous region of Cabagra

The Costa Rican Lutheran Church's Women Program started in the indigenous region of Cabagra the pilot project "Sewing Workshops", which consisted of four consultancies, and facilitated by Ms. Celina Sosa and the Lutheran pastors Nehemias Rivera, Joaquin Höring and the coordinator of the commission Ms. Teresa Guadamuz.

The workshops were held at the School of San Juan in Cabagra, thanks to the collaboration of the Director Ms. Kelly Rojas, who provided the facilities for developing this important productive activity. Mrs Teresa tells us that:

"This year these consultancies are aimed to sew school uniforms, which are a nice job, where they build the Kingdom of God as a team. These communities are very poor. To sew their own school uniforms for their children will allow them to minimize school expenses, which is a great help for these families like new skirts, blouses and pants for the school year"

The facilitator Ms Celina Sosa tells us that:

"I want to thank you for the opportunity to share my knowledge in the area of dressmaking and this has been a great experience. Here in Cabagra I found friends, very friendly ladies who welcomed me. This experience was a privilege and I made my contribution"

costura4Thanks to all the people and organizations, who made this activity possible, women leaders like Delilah, Giselle, Juana, Berta, who guaranteed the smooth running of the work team and the workshops. Thanks to the sisters Congregations of North Carolina, who donated sewing machines, thanks to ILCO for the supply of materials and the School Board that supported the power supply.

This is how we discover the journey of Jesus in the daily work, by hills, ranches and villages of these indigenous communities.

ILCO delivered two traditional dresses, hats and scarves to the school, for them to have a small group of national dances.
