english35During the visit of Faith Lutheran Church of Minnesota to Costa Rica in 2010, the ceremony “Sowing for the Future” was performed in honor of the work that the Costa Rican Lutheran Church has done on both Social and Environmental issues.

This event took place at the Earth University in Guácimo located in Limon The delegation from Minnesota donated a tree to represent a new life for the future. This symbolic act is also a concrete and effective action to address climate change and to mitigate greenhouse gases.

english34The ILCO is pleased to observe the impact that its day care center “Casa Abierta”, or Open House, is having in the La Carpio community. Inaugurated a year ago, this day care center offers a fully integrated program of child care, education, and proper nutrition to young children.

In this way, it alleviates the tremendous burden of low income families and single mothers, of finding reliable care for their children while the parents work. Today, these families can count on the center's safe and welcoming environment to help them guide their children's emotional and spiritual development, and strengthen their capacity to learn.

This is an alternative space, which urges individuals and social organizations interested in defending the right to information to participate in its broadcasts.

ILCO considers these programs a valuable platform for motivating grassroots actions for social change. This Radio Program is not only for distribution of information, but also for opening new avenues for mass communication, which were previously closed for social organizations.
